100 New Massachusetts Jobs Through TD Bank

Throughout the next 18 months, a bank in Massachusetts may provide jobs for 100 people. TD Bank will be opening 12 new branches throughout the state by 2012, after they just finished adding 7 during the past year.

TD Bank is also responsible for adding several small business loan centers throughout the area, which has hopefully aided local businesses as they try to survive the current economy. Another bank, the Bank of New York Mellon Corp., will be adding jobs to Massachusetts as well. Around 200 jobs will be moved from their Rhode Island office to the state. Several workers will also be commuting the distance to retain their jobs at the bank.

In other job sectors in Massachusetts, there is also some good news. In the teaching world, for example, the state budget was able to be passed without sacrificing jobs, with increased funding for local schools when so many other states are slashing school budgets left and right.

That said, most city and town schools of Massachusetts weren’t so lucky, and experienced yet another annual loss of aid from the state government. Still, most districts report that they won’t be cutting jobs due to the cuts; none, however, spoke on the cutting of corners.
